Training and Lessons
GoFor Heights is a small hunter/jumper/dressage barn just south of Norman, OK.  We are located only 5 minutes from the University of Oklahoma campus.  Though we are small, we know our stuff and can offer you and your horse the personal attention you both deserve.  Some of the riders who come to us have never before sat on a horse.  Soon they are enjoying the art of riding and are showing off their skills at local schooling shows.  Finding reliable, trustworthy help with starting your young prospect can be a daunting task.  We can offer great advice and show you how to help your horse make the transition from green baby to made winner.  Monthly training is also available.

We are currently working mainly out of Stillwater, OK and would love to discuss a training plan for your horse at our barn in Stillwater!
Riders choose how fast they want to improve.  We've found that if a rider is pushed faster than he or she feels comfortable, he or she will only digress.  A rider has to want to improve before he or she can accomplish his or her goals.  If a rider feels he or she has reached the limit, then we will work on refining the skills at that level until the rider is ready to continue.  With that in mind, it is important to remember that we will only ask a rider to move to the next level when we feel he or she is absolutely ready.  Most of our lessons are private half or full hour lessons; semi-private lessons can be arranged with horses and riders who are around the same level.

We don't require riders to own their own horse.  Our lesson horse is very patient and gentle and can teach anyone how to do it but there is only so much you can learn from a school horse.  Whenever you are ready, we will help you find the perfect horse for your level.
GoFor Heights specializes in starting youngsters under saddle.  We use lots of round penning and lounging with side reins.  After your horse has learned to give to the bit and follow his head, he is ready to be backed.  We try to make the experiance as easy for horse and rider as possible.  We do offer monthly training, but encourage the horse's owner to take lessons and learn how to ride their horse as well.  If the owner doesn't know how to ride their horse, all the professional training in the world won't do a bit of good.
If you have a horse or pony who is going under saddle, but needs to learn how to jump, or if your horse just needs a little correction over fences, we can do that too.  We start with low crossrails and gymnastics and slowly continue until your horse is comfortably jumping around a course.  From there, you let us know what you want.  If you want to start showing him, or keep him in training, your wish is our command!
